Position: Nurse/Medical Assistant/Surgical Assistant Job Type: Full-time
Qualifications:
● Experience administering injections
● Knowledge of medical terminology, CPT, and ICD-10 codes
● Knowledge of basic office financial policies
● Basic computer skills and experience in EMR utilization
● Able to operate standard office equipment (i.e., computer, fax, copier, scanner, etc.)
● Excellent verbal and written communication skills
● Fluent in English
● Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment
● Ability to work effectively, cooperatively, and courteously with staff, patients, and visitors
● Must be able to travel to satellite offices as needed
● Must be detail-oriented
Responsibilities:
● Assist Physicians and other Providers by preparing procedure trays, ensuring adequate supplies for the department, and assisting with patient care
● Escort patients to exam rooms and perform basic triage and intake
● Obtain and record vital signs
● Organize patient flow
● Setup procedure tray, instruments, and equipment according to instructions
● Prepare Path/lab specimens, route to the correct lab directed by patient insurance plan
● Assist during surgical procedures, including handing instruments to the surgeon,
maintaining a sterile field, and anticipating the needs of the surgical team
● Provide post-operative care and assist with patient recovery as directed by the surgeon
● Maintain surgical equipment and instruments in proper working order
● Ensure compliance with sterile techniques and infection control protocols
Requirements:
● Ability to multi-task, prioritize appropriately, and work well both individually and as part of a team
● Ability to read, understand, and follow oral and written instructions
● Ability to spell, sort, and file materials correctly alphabetically or numerically
● High School Graduate or GED
● Completion of a formal medical assistant program with an internship or nursing program
● 1-2 years of recent experience as a medical assistant or nurse
● Standing and walking for extended periods of time
● Physical activity, including lifting ~30lbs, bending, twisting, reaching, and balancing
● Talking and listening in person and on the telephone
